Book Depot News

STATUS OF EDUCATORS BOOK DEPOT AS OF Sept 15

At this time the Educators Book Depot is closed indefinitely. Since Stege Elementary was closed this summer due to a HazMat situation, access to the Depot became collateral damage. We are actively looking for a different site in the district which has 2 portables side by side. We also need access during non-school hours - afternoons and weekends.

FREE BOOKS AVAILABLE IN OAKLAND

If you need books for your classroom and students - go to the East Bay Children's Book Project, 1501 Harrison Street. They  are open Tuesdays 3:30-5:30 and one Saturday a month, next one is October 5. Additional dates are November 9th and December 7th. You can get 50 gently used books, sometimes they have new ones and you can select 10 of those as part of your 50. Ann Katz is the Director and the Project has been VERY generous with giving books to West County READS to fill the gaps that the Depot closure created. It is just as informal as the Depot was - you need to be part of a program or school and work with students. Plan on wearing a mask, they have disposable ones if you forget to bring your own.

Donating books to educators in need!

West County READS is a volunteer organization that promotes family literacy through events, activities, and book giveaways. The Educators Book Depot supports Classroom Libraries for all teachers.

Educators’ Book Depot is open for Educators Only.

Books are available free of charge to any professional who works with children in need. Our goal is to make sure that books get into the hands of children.

Visitors are welcome to select up to 50 books each visit. We restrict customers to only 2 visits per month per customer.
